How Does It Work?
**Note you must have an ACTIVE and VERIFIABLE (on www.GHIN.com) USGA handicap by MAY 5 to participate in the B Flight. If you do not have a verifiable GHIN by May 5th, you will automatically be placed in the A flight. Why only GHIN? With hundreds of players, we can ONLY accept ONE official USGA handicap so that we can validate handicaps for flight placement. Need to get one or re-activate a GHIN? DETAILS
1. Format is 2-Person Teams playing team Best-Ball Match Play (individual stroke per player with lower of 2 scores being your “team” score). Scores are NOT handicap adjusted during the matches. Handicaps are used only to determine flights. Must register as a 2-Person Team. Maximum of 16 teams (32 golfers) per flight per division.
2. NEW: The registration cost is $50(+tx) per TEAM ($25 per player) and and includes:
Entry into the up to $10,000 prize purse*.
A $10 2nd Swing tournament card.
4 free hours of indoor golf simulator time (1 free hour each at X-Golf Blaine, X-Golf Champlin, X-Golf Woodbury and Ugly Putters (Woodbury).
Buy One, Get One Free hour of simulator time at BIRDI Golf (Woodbury) monthly (April-August).
Membership for additional prize purse payouts (and local Player Rankings) via our Twin Cities Golf TOUR.
$10 discount when you play in TwinCitiesGolf events.
Priority invitation to TCG events at private clubs & TCG Majors.
*Prize purse grows with each participating team - up to $10,000 with full field.
2. You pick the metro area division where you would like to play your matches. Choose 2 (1st preference, 2nd preference) and teams will be assigned based on chronological order of registration. Course of play to be determined by the playing teams and may be any of the 100+ Public Country Club-participating courses (view list of qualifying courses at www.ThePublicCC.com). Golfers do not need to be PCC members to participate in the TCG Match Play.

3. TCG creates the brackets and teams communicate with each other to setup their matches. Public Country Club members may use their PCC membership for greens fees during matches. Non-PCC members simply pay greens fees at time of each round.
4. We will have (2) flights per division. Your COMBINED team handicap determines your FLIGHT. 12.9 or less combined = A Flight. 13.0 or higher combined = B Flight. Note we no longer have a C flight. If one of the players is a 3.9 or less handicap, that team will automatically be in the A flight. The maximum difference between player handicaps is 12.0.
5. Please choose 2 divisions as options. Teams are given division assignment in chronological order that their application is received.
6. For each round, teams will have a minimum15 day window to complete their match. If teams are unable to complete their matches, winner is determined by a coin flip by TCG event manager.
7. New for 2021: If a team has won a division in B Flight TWICE, they are automatically moved up to A Flight for the following season.
8. Dates for each round to be completed are:
Round 1: May 10 - May 27
Round 2: May 28 - June 15
Round 3: June 16 - July 7
Round 4: July 8 - July 27
Twin Cities Championship (all Division winners invited): Saturday, October 9 @ Emerald Greens GC (Hastings, MN). 9:00AM - 10:00AM tee times.
9. Rules for Match Play competition can be found on the USGA website at https://www.usga.org/content/usga/home-page/rules-hub/topics/match-play.html - Format for the TCG Team Match Play competition is 2-Person Team Best Ball [Best ball (also known as fourball in the Ryder Cup) involves 2-person teams where each player on the team plays his or her own golf ball throughout the round. After each hole the player with the lowest score on the hole (or “best ball”) out of the 2-person team serves as the team's score.]
10. TEE BOX ASSIGNMENTS:
Flight A play from tees that are 6200-6500 yards.
Flight B play from tees that are 5900 to 6199 yards.
**All ages of men play from same tees (no exceptions for juniors or seniors). Women will play from tees that are 4800-5099 yards. If the course you are playing falls outside of the assigned yardages, play the next further Tee Box than the Yardage. eg. If you are B Flight, and the course has a 5854 yard box and a 6414 yard box, play the longer option. If you are A Flight, and the course has 6145 yard box and a 6714 yard box; play the longer option.
11. If you are TIED after 18 holes, winner is determined by a Scorecard Playoff, meaning the team that wins the LOWEST HANDICAP RATED hole wins the match.
12. If you lose your FIRST match, you are moved into the CONSOLATION bracket for a chance to keep advancing to the Consolation Bracket so all teams will play a minimum of 2 rounds.
13. The championship round teams for each division receive prize pool payout. Both the Championship bracket and Consolation bracket winners will receive invitation to compete against other division winners in the season ending TCG Team Cup Championship. Winning teams will receive TCG store credits as prize money (based on total prize pool). TCG credits can be used for TCG events or for VISA gift card redemption.
